Charles & Rosalea Sherman opened
Sherman’s
Grocery Store in 1947 on the corner of
South Main Street
and
Reed Road.
It originally opened as a neighborhood grocery
and meat market, which also provided its
customers with charge accounts and home delivery
service. |

In the late 1950’s my dad opened a deli in the rear of
the store, which once served as the small apartment
where my parents lived. In 1970, I returned from college
to the family business and ran the deli and assisted my
dad in managing the grocery store.

My wife Carole and I bought the grocery and deli from my
parents in 1978. In
October of 1984, I brought home an idea to Carole
that had been on my mind for quite some time--changing
the family business into a full-time lunch and dinner
restaurant. |

|
With her consent and commitment, I went ahead
with the dream, and in June of 1985 Sherman’s
Restaurant was born. |
And now, 25 years later, thanks to the support
of our local customers and those of the
Ark-La-Miss area, we have established a
restaurant that is widely recognized as one of
the area’s best all-around restaurants.
